Radiofrequency Engineer

Radiofrequency Engineer

We are seeking a Microwave Engineer to build our microwave design and test activity. This role will involve driving the development of key and novel microwave components in the 0-20 GHz band for quantum computing from design to product integration, in interaction with quantum engineers. As part of the Microwave Engineering team, you will drive innovation to build Isentroniq's first scale-up-enabling product: a quantum computing wiring solution with 10x more capacity.

About Isentroniq

At Isentroniq, we are building the future of computing, not in theory, but in hardware. We enable quantum computing at scale by developing superconducting circuits solutions to increase the qubit count by more than a 100x at fixed cost and size of infrastructure.

We share knowledge openly, challenge ideas constructively, and stay focused on what matters. Our values - gritty ambition with humility, radical candor, methodical audacity and sense of belonging are at the core of how we work and grow.

If you're passionate about transformative innovation, and ready to build what quantum needs to go further, join us and let's shape the future together.

Key Responsibilities

  • Component design and test: Prototyping novel cryogenic microwave components from design and simulation, to experimental test, debugging and validation.

  • Microwave activity building: Setup and document processes for microwave component design and test in interaction with quantum engineers.

  • Product development: Participate in building the team's roadmap for scale-up-enabling products by providing feedback, design rules, and specifications.

  • Lab building: Participate in building the microwave test lab: design of the setups, purchase of the equipment, and implementation of automated test routines.

  • Team building: Participate in building the team by attracting and selecting world-class microwave engineers.

Who you are

We are looking for a passionate and complete microwave engineer, competent in component and systems prototyping, to build impactful products. Pozar is your Bible. You love building microwave products from scratch. You are curious and would love to discover quantum from the microwave angle.

Key Qualifications

  • Education

    • PhD or Master’s degree in Microwave Engineering or a related field.

    • You know and understand Pozar chapters 1 to 9.

  • Electromagnetic Simulation Expertise

    • Proficient with CST, HFSS, ADS, etc.

    • Experience with S-parameter, eigenmode, electrostatic and/or magnetostatic simulations.

    • Familiar with structures like stripline, microstrip, CPW, 3D packages and cavities.

  • Component Design

    • Capable of designing distributed microwave components in the 0–20 GHz band: filters, attenuators, broadband circulators, impedance adapters.

  • Prototyping & Lab Work

    • PCB design experience using tools like Altium.

    • Can order, assemble, solder PCBs; test/debug using VNA, PSA, multimeter.

  • Microwave System Proficiency

    • Deep understanding of microwave system behavior (0–20 GHz).

    • Simulation with SPICE, ADS; strong grasp of signal processing, distortion and noise in RF chains.

  • Software & Scripting

    • Proficient in Python.

    • Able to use RF and EM packages (e.g. scikit-rf, tool APIs) for automation, GDS generation, and data analysis.

  • Communication Proficiency

    • English mandatory.

    • French as bonus.

Personal Attributes

  • You are autonomous, ambitious, organized, and enjoy driving a project.

  • You are a builder. You are hands-on, enjoy discomfort and are not afraid to make things from scratch: complete setups, scripts, purchases, processes, etc. You embody an engineer's mindset, with meticulous attention to details and a systematic approach to problem-solving.

  • You value transparency and open communication, fostering trust and collaboration. You enjoy having your ideas and suggestions be boldly challenged and you feel free to speak about achievements and mistakes.

  • You are eager to learn and grow. You recognize the strength of teamwork. You feel challenged by competing alternative approaches, instead of looking down on them.

  • You thrive in an environment of high expectations, pushing boundaries to achieve breakthroughs.

What We Offer

  • A unique opportunity to shape the technological direction of a cutting-edge start-up.

  • The unique chance to develop scale-up-enabling products and the quantum test machines that will drive the company's success.

  • A collaborative, mission-driven culture with a focus on personal and professional growth.

  • Competitive salary and equity package.
