Quantum Engineer

Quantum Engineer

We are seeking a Quantum Engineer to develop scale-up-enabling wiring products and the quantum test facility to qualify them and drive their performances. This role will involve building and operating our first quantum test lab, designing and running advanced quantum measurements, driving product development, coordinating across technical teams, and helping grow a world-class quantum engineering team.

About Isentroniq

At Isentroniq, we are building the future of computing, not in theory, but in hardware. We enable quantum computing at scale by developing superconducting circuits solutions to increase the qubit count by more than a 100x at fixed cost and size of infrastructure.

We share knowledge openly, challenge ideas constructively, and stay focused on what matters. Our values - gritty ambition with humility, radical candor, methodical audacity and sense of belonging are at the core of how we work and grow.

If you're passionate about transformative innovation, and ready to build what quantum needs to go further, join us and let's shape the future together.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build the first lab. Design, purchase and install two cryogenic measurement setups, in collaboration with our mechanical engineer, to test the quantum performance of our wiring solutions.

  • Design and implement quantum tests. Examples: High-throughput methods to identify and characterize sources of loss in quantum chips, methods to measure quasiparticle tunneling rate, field thermometry, and heat loads.

  • Define and execute product roadmap. Specify, design and integrate the components we develop into scale-up-enabling products for quantum computing companies.

  • Orientate RF and Mechanical engineering teams. Give feedback and design specifications on the wiring and chip produced by both teams.

  • Team building. Participate in building the team, by attracting and selecting world-class quantum engineers to work with you.

Who you are

We’re looking for a builder who is eager to set up a lab, a team, and the foundations of our quantum metrology tool, and define our first products. You have an engineering mindset and are not afraid to design setups, make purchases, get them assembled, and dig into code to run measurements. You are eager to implement the most advanced quantum measurement methods and turn experiments into running machines.

Key Qualifications

  • A PhD in experimental quantum computing in solid-state qubits (superconducting circuits, spins, dots, graphene, etc).

  • Experience setting up and operating a complete cryogenic measurement setup, including a cryostat, its wiring, the cryogenic components and the electronics rack.

  • Strong python coding skills to set up drivers, control instruments, run simulations, perform automated data analysis, and use packages to design basic chips.

  • Deep knowledge of superconducting quantum devices. You can design qubit chips. Going from finding a readout resonator to single-qubit gates and single-shot readout is an easy game for you.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build consensus among project stakeholders.

  • Communication proficiency in English.

Bonus
  • Basics of neighbor fields. You know several ways to fabricate qubits and how fab impacts quantum performance. You also know enough microwave engineering to design superconducting circuits and good input/output wiring. You are not afraid to dig into heat transfer.

  • Proficiency in French.

Personal Attributes

  • You are autonomous, ambitious, organized, and enjoy driving a project.

  • You are a builder. You are hands-on, enjoy discomfort and are not afraid to do things from scratch: complete setups, scripts, purchases, processes, etc.

  • You embody an engineer’s mindset, with meticulous attention to details and a systematic approach to problem-solving.

  • You value transparency and open communication, fostering trust and collaboration. You enjoy having your ideas and suggestions boldly challenged and feel free to speak about achievements and mistakes.

  • You are eager to learn and grow. You recognize the strength of teamwork and feel challenged by competing alternative approaches instead of looking down on them.

  • You thrive in an environment of high expectations, pushing boundaries to achieve breakthroughs.

What We Offer

  • A unique opportunity to shape the technological direction of a cutting-edge start-up.

  • The unique chance to develop scale-up-enabling products and the quantum test machines that will drive the company's success.

  • A collaborative, mission-driven culture with a focus on personal and professional growth.

  • Competitive salary and equity package.
