Product Mechanical Engineer

Product Mechanical Engineer

We're seeking a Product Mechanical Engineer to design the packaging for Isentroniq's ultra-high-density wiring solution. You'll create connector assemblies and cable systems that are compact, cryogenic-compatible, and easy to install: solving critical challenges in user-oriented mechanical design, self-alignment mechanisms, and protection of fragile interconnect components. This is a hands-on role building everything from concept to integrated product, going through CAD, prototypes, and test fixtures. You'll own the mechanical design while integrating with quantum and microwave engineers who handle electrical and thermal specs.

About Isentroniq

At Isentroniq, we make quantum computing happen by developing superconducting circuits solutions to increase the qubit count 1000x at fixed cost and size of infrastructure. We share knowledge openly, challenge ideas constructively, make bold moves and stay focused on what matters. Our values - gritty ambition with humility, radical candor, self-accountable team spirit - are at the core of how we work and grow. If you’re passionate about transformative innovation, and ready to build what quantum needs to go further, join us and let’s shape the future together.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design connector and cable packaging systems with intuitive user assembly, compact self-aligning and snapping mechanisms, and mechanical protection for fragile interconnect components

  • Design, build, and run robustness test procedures: create test setups to assess mechanical durability (shear, bending, shock resistance), monitor wear after repeated use, and validate performance under cryogenic thermal cycling

  • Simulate mechanical behavior using FEA (stress/strain, fatigue, contact mechanics) - run analyses yourself or manage external specialists

  • Build a prototyping supply chain: source and manage manufacturing partners (injection molding, CNC, precision machining) to enable rapid, high-quality iteration

Who you are

A user-oriented mechanical designer with a product sensibility. You obsess over how things feel to assemble, how tolerances stack up, and how mechanisms fail. You've designed miniature systems where every 0.1mm matters, and you love the full cycle: design → prototype → test → break it → redesign. You know how to find the right machine shop and iterate fast.

Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor's/Master's in Mechanical Engineering + 5+ years designing compact, high-precision mechanical systems in consumer electronics, precision instruments, electrical connectors, watches, or similar applications (e.g., retention clips, buttons, locking mechanisms, connector housings)

  • Expert CAD skills (SolidWorks, Fusion360, or equivalent) for complex assemblies with tight tolerances and design for manufacturing

  • Experience with micro-mechanical design elements: snap-fits, compliant mechanisms, retention systems, self-alignment features

  • Hands-on prototyping and testing: design test fixtures, run experiments, iterate based on data

  • FEA simulation capability for stress/strain, contact mechanics, and fatigue (ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation, or ability to manage external analysts)

  • Builder mindset: autonomous, resourceful, comfortable owning product design from concept to validated hardware and building supplier relationships

Bonus: Materials/manufacturing knowledge (injection molding, CNC, spring design, surface treatments) | Cryogenic systems experience | Connector or cable assembly design background | Contact mechanics understanding | Experience designing product qualification tests

Personal Attributes

  • Ownership mentality: You drive projects from concept to completion without waiting for direction

  • Hands-on builder: Equally comfortable in CAD and in the lab, prototyping and testing your own designs

  • Resourceful problem-solver: You find creative solutions under constraints (budget, timeline, materials)

  • Clear communicator: You explain technical decisions to non-mechanical engineers and align cross-functional

What We Offer

  • A unique opportunity to shape the technological direction of a cutting-edge start-up.

  • The unique chance to develop scale-up-enabling products and the quantum test machines that will drive the company's success.

  • A collaborative, mission-driven culture with a focus on personal and professional growth.

  • Competitive salary and equity package.
