We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to build and run the many mechanical projects and aspects of our quantum machines and wiring, to turn ideas into running products and machines. This role will involve building and operating advanced cryogenic measurement setups, leading the mechanical design and realization of components for high-throughput quantum testing, managing the day-to-day technical operations of the lab in close collaboration with quantum and microwave engineers, and then evolve into building new tools and machines to test and improve our products.

Key Responsibilities
Build the lab. Install two cryogenic measurement setups, and design, purchase and install the many mechanical parts inside the cryostat, in close connection with quantum engineers
Realize cryogenic hardware for high-throughput quantum tests. High-density sample holders and wiring and switch layout to allow for massively parallelizable quantum tests, in close connection with quantum engineers.
Owner of mechanical aspects of the wiring product. Make the physical design of the wiring product, and of its components, and source the mechanical pieces, in close connection with quantum engineers.
PCB mechanical designs. Realize the mechanical drawings and the mechanical tests of the printed circuit board designed by the microwave team.
Run the lab. Handle mechanical supplies (tools, screws, consumable parts). Prepare sample packaging and run cryostat cooldowns. Be the interface with the infrastructure provider. Run the mechanics, soldering, bonding stations.

We’re looking for a talented mechanical engineer doubled with a handyman, curious to work in a deep tech environment. You love building mechanical systems, from design to physical assembly and running them. You love working with teams of vastly different expertise.
Key Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer with a strong understanding of mechanical principles relevant to complex systems.
Expertise in Mechanical Prototyping & Supply Chain Management. Expertise in CAD software for mechanical design and generating manufacturing-ready drawings. Proven ability to manage complex assemblies and oversee the full lifecycle of mechanical component procurement.
Extensive Hands-on Workshop & Assembly Skills. Highly proficient in utilizing a wide array of workshop tools and techniques for fabrication and measurement. Possesses significant experience in independently building and effectively troubleshooting intricate mechanical systems with a strong practical problem-solving approach.
Excellent Communication & Collaboration Skills. Proven ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) and collaborate in English within multidisciplinary, international teams, including scientists and engineers.
Project Organization & Tracking Abilities. Experience with planning, organizing, and tracking tasks related to the development and installation of mechanical systems.
Bonus
Knowledge of stress and strain simulations (e.g., FEA software) and conductive heat transfer principles, ideally with application to cryogenic environments.
Experience with cryogenic systems. Low-temperature, vacuum systems, cryogenic fluids.
Experience in wiring and interconnects, especially its mechanical aspects in complex systems.
Experience working on highly compact, high-precision mechanical systems eg. for example in watchmaking, precision instruments, or space-constrained devices such as smartphones.
