Isentroniq raises €7.5M to break the wiring bottleneck and unlock large-scale quantum computing

Tuesday, October 14, 2025

Isentroniq, a French quantum hardware startup, today announced a €7.5 million funding round led by Heartcore with participation from OVNI Capital, Kima Ventures, iXcore, Better Angle, Epsilon VC as well as the support from Bpifrance and the French National Research Agency (ANR) under the France 2030 program. The funding will enable them to develop its breakthrough wiring technology, to establish its engineering team and build key industrial partnerships to deliver an end-to-end, plug-and-play solution enabling quantum computer builders to realize scaled-up systems

A structural problem: the wiring deadlock

Quantum computers could transform fields like medicine, energy, and logistics by solving problems that overwhelm today’s supercomputers. But qubits are fragile and prone to errors - thousands of them are required to encode just one reliable “logical” qubit. This means machines must scale from a few hundred qubits today to millions in the future before they can deliver useful results at industrial scale.

Superconducting qubits is today’s most promising platform for achieving fault-tolerant quantum computing, but scaling is blocked by cryogenics. Each control line inside a dilution refrigerator carries not only signals but also heat and bulk. Beyond ~100 qubits, systems rapidly hit their thermal and spatial limits. Building a 1M-qubit machine with today’s infrastructure would require facilities the size of ten football fields and tens of billions of euros in investment - an unsustainable path.

Isentroniq’s technology directly addresses these three bottlenecks - heat, cost, space - to enable 1,000× more qubits to be integrated into existing dilution refrigerators. In the long run, this breakthrough could bring the cost of a 1M-qubit system down to just €50M.

The company adopts a fabless model: it designs the architecture and leverages a global network of specialized manufacturing partners for production. This accelerates time-to-market, avoids massive CAPEX requirements, and ensures industrial-grade quality.

“Today wiring is the #1 bottleneck to scale-up superconducting quantum computers. Our mission is to turn it into an accelerator,” said Paul Magnard, co-founder and CEO of Isentroniq. “With this funding, we will industrialize a wiring technology capable of supporting million-qubit machines and make quantum computing truly useful for science, industry, and society.”

Expert founders combining science, product launches and execution

Isentroniq was co-founded by Paul Magnard (PhD ETH Zurich in superconducting qubits, former lead architect at Alice & Bob, author of multiple Nature publications) and Théodore Amar (ex-Bain & Company, ex-Head of Marketing at Hilti, 2nd time founder). Together, they combine cutting-edge quantum expertise with proven experience in scaling complex technologies into commercial products.

The announcement comes as major players (Google, IBM, Amazon, IQM, Alice & Bob, Rigetti) pursue aggressive roadmaps toward 100k and 1M qubits. Without an infrastructure breakthrough, those roadmaps remain aspirational. Isentroniq positions itself as the indispensable layer enabling large-scale quantum systems to become reality.

In 2026, Isentroniq will open positions for Quantum Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Radiofrequency Engineers, and Software Engineers, while already welcoming spontaneous applications today.

“The physics of the superconducting class of quantum computers have shown tremendous progress recently but there is still real engineering work to be done to enable quantum compute workloads to run seamlessly in a datacenter. Isentroniq aims to bridge the physics-engineering gap and democratise access to the most powerful compute resource the world has ever seen,” said Jimmy Fussing Nielsen, co-founder and managing partner of lead investor Heartcore Capital.
